Want a free game about the beautiful planets? {Planetary Bingo}

Add some fun to your homeschool science curriculum with this free astronomy game!

Have a blast as you learn about the planets with this FREE printable game from Elemental Science

Earlier this year, we shared the basics of teaching astronomy at home. Now, we want to share a super fun game you can use to review what you have learned about the planets!

Planetary Bingo Game Directions

We had a blast playing this game as a family, even our 6-year-old understood how to play. It’s a great way to sneak in some super-fun review after you have learned about what is out in space!

Supplies

  • 2 to 6 Players, ages 5 and up
  • Bingo markers for each player
  • Planetary Bingo Game Board, Game Cards, and Bingo Cards for each player (Download these for FREE!)

How to Play

1. Set up the game.

  • Place the game cards face down on the “Pick-up Pile” box on the game board.
  • Give each player a Planetary Bingo Card and 25 bingo markers.
  • Have each player place a marker on the “Free Space” box on their card.

2. The oldest player begins the game by choosing a card from the “Pick-up Pile” and then reading the clue.

3. All the players need to determine what planet or space object the clue is referring to and then place a marker on the correct one. For example:

    • The player chooses the card that says, “It is known as the red planet.”
    • The players will all place a single bingo marker on one of the Mars spots on their card. (Note - Players may have more than one of the planet or space object on their card, but they can only place one marker at a time.)

    3. Have the oldest player place the game card face up on the “Discard Pile” box. If any of the players haven’t guessed the answer by that time, they can look at the picture on the card to know where to place their marker.

    4. Then, the player to the right of the oldest player chooses the next card, reads the clue from the card, and discards the card.

    5. Gameplay continues in the same manner until someone wins. (Note - If you run out of cards before someone wins, simply shuffle the deck and begin again.)

    How to Win

Be the first player to get five planets or space objects in a row and yell out “Planetary Bingo!”

    Additional Games Ideas

You can use the Planetary Bingo Cards for a game of Memory. Simply lay the cards face down in a six-by-six grid. Have the player flip over the cards, read the clues, and determine if the cards are a match. If yes, have the player take the match and flip over two more cards. If not, have the player flip the cards back over.

    Additional Resources

Before you play this game, you can use the following resources to learn more about the solar system.
