Be a Student: 52 Homeschool Science Tips to help you all year long

Homeschool Science Tip of the Month - Be a student first.

When we started sharing monthly science tips over four years ago, I wasn't sure how long we would keep doing so. My plan was to try out a new format, to do something new that would give you all a quick shot of science-teaching encouragement.

Well, here we are at tip number 52. And I feel like this is the perfect time to wrap-up the homeschool science tip of the month series.

The final tip I want to leave you all with is . . . to be a student first.

What do I mean by this?

It means that you are continually learning - you are seeking to model a life-long pursuit of education for your students.

How can you do this?

  1. By reading. You can read nonfiction or fiction, just aim to finish a book a month. Let your kiddos see you when you are reading those books or discuss what you are reading with them.
  2. By relating. You can connect with other homeschoolers, educators, parents, or grandparents who inspire you and those who share their life experiences freely.
  3. By recognizing. You can seek out and find the amazing abilities hidden in your children and then discover ways to help those talents bubble to the surface.
  4. By researching. You can take two minutes each week to learn about teaching science using the tips below or spend time learning about another aspect of home education.

However you choose to learn, be a student first. Because when you do so you will have plenty to draw from as you seek to teach your kiddos.
