The Highlights

Whether you write your own plans from scratch, mix and match programs for a custom plan, or purchase an open and go program, these three steps will help you to create an effective plan for homeschool science!

1. Determine your goals.

  • What do I have to prepare my student for?
  • What do I want to instill in my student about science?
  • Is there anything that I must teach my student?

2. Research for materials.

  • What do you want to study?
  • What type of materials do you want to use?
  • Will you buy or get from the library?

3. Plan for each week to include the three keys for teaching science.

  • Performing hands-on scientific tests
  • Gathering information from science-related readings
  • Recording what the student is learning
