How We Make Instant Indoor Snow With Only 2 Common Ingredients

Indoor snow - sounds a bit like an oxymoron.

Plus, every time we say the word "snow" our mom breaks into that song from White Christmas. And we are slightly embarrassed to admit that we can sing most of it with her - it's a family tradition to watch the movie every year for the holidays.

But we digress - we are not here to chat about the holidays. We are here to share our favorite way to play in the "snow" - the one where we use a little science experiment to make indoor snow that keeps us from freezing our hands off!

This one is super easy - it requires only two ingredients that you probably already have in the house. That is, you most likely have them if someone has sensitive skin and someone makes Chinese food in your house.

Trust me . . . it will all make sense in just a moment...

How We Make Instant Indoor Snow

What You Need To Make Snow

The best part about this type of snow is you only need two things:

  • A can of shaving cream
  • A box of cornstarch

See? I told you that you would have these things in the house already!

I know you thought we were crazy, but trust us - you are about to be ahhh-mazed!!

How To Make Your Indoor Snow

Now, pay careful attention as you don't want to miss a step along the way - plus in about thirty second you will be playing in the snow!

Here we go:

Step 1

  • Open the box of cornstarch and dump it out. (You can do this in a pan or shallow dish if your mom doesn't want it all over her table.)

Step 2

  • Spray the whole can of shaving cream all over the dumped cornstarch.

Step 3

  • Mix well and start playing in the snow!!

Not too hard, eh?

We love playing around with this stuff all day long. In the beginning, it's a bit cool to the touch, which just makes it even more fun.

One year, we even decided to have an indoor snowball fight - luckily the Prez stepped in and stopped the whole thing before we really got in trouble. We don't recommend trying that one at home.

Instead, we recommend you use your snow to build mini-snowmen and finger snow angels!
